Candle care & safety
A little care helps your candle burn beautifully and safely. Where a product comes with its own instructions, please follow those first.
The first burn
On the first lighting, allow the melted wax to reach close to the edges of the container before extinguishing. This helps the candle burn evenly on later uses. The time this takes varies with the candle's size and your surroundings, so keep an eye on it rather than relying on a fixed duration.
Before every burn
- Trim the wick to approximately 5 mm before lighting.
- Place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
- Keep it away from drafts, curtains and anything flammable.
While it burns
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
- Do not move the candle while the wax is hot or liquid.
- Leave suitable space between burning candles.
When it's nearly finished
Stop using the candle when only a small amount of wax remains at the bottom, as continued burning can overheat the container.
